Something Old, Something New
Through some friends I learned that my Ex has a new boyfriend. I have no idea why it bothers me. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had a serious relationship since the breakup but regardless this news bugs me.
I’m sure you’ve been to a restaurant where the food was subpar, the service was sketchy and when the experience was over you decided you’d never go back. Do you care what this restaurant’s daily specials are now? Of course not, and the same can be and should be said about past relationships. There’s no reason to feel bad that you’re not in a serious relationship right now- you just haven’t found the one worthy of your emotional and time investment. And just like a better dinner special, you’ll find the perfect main course before you know it!
I just got a “Woof” from a guy I dated a few times five years ago and I’m not sure how to take it. Does this guy not remember me or does he regret not continuing what we started years ago?
The only way to know for sure is to ask him. There’s something to be said about timing, and maybe it was off five years ago. If you’re interested, there’s nothing to lose by starting a dialogue.
A friend of mine wants to fix me up with someone and I’m really nervous about it. Even though it seems we both like each other “on paper”, I’ve never heard of fix-ups that actually work.
The only way to know for sure is to go on a date. Fix-ups can be awkward, but the plus side is that you already have a great conversation starter in talking about how you each know the fixer-upper. Like anything new, you have to give it a try… and you might just like it!
